Hi All-
Hoping some of the KAC collectors / users can help me here. I’m trying get an idea of the value of this rifle. It’s not mine, but was asked to help by a friend.

The upper and lower receiver are KAC SR25 and the SN indicates it was sold as a complete SR25 rifle in 1993 (I emailed KAC). Someone cannibalized the factory SR25 and then built a rifle from the upper and lower. The only original KAC parts are the upper and lower. Barrel is DPMS, gas block unknown, Midwest Ind forearm, unknown BCG, Troy charging handle, Magpul stock, unknown (shitty) trigger.

I did test-fire it with 3 rounds of factory 150 fmj and it ran. Also tried 4 rounds of my a 175 SMK handload I had on the shelf and it gave me a 3/4” group.

Rifle is very clean and I was told owner shot about 100 rounds through it.

I know KAC stuff is pretty pricey but I don’t know actual values and have no idea what a Franken SR 25 like this would be worth. My guess is someone would just gut this for the receivers to build a clone.

The optic is a Leupold Mk4 LR/T 4.5-14x40. Mil TMR and MOA turret. Mount is Yankee Hill Machine.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Sell the lower to a collector, those kooks love early shit. Then strip the upper and sell it alone, no one wants the other parts but people are constantly looking for stripped SR25 uppers since completes are $4K+. Auction the stripped receiver on gunbroker and watch money come in. You’re correct that its value is in building a clone.

Fucking criminal…Whoever is responsible for that butchery whenever it happpend in the rifle’s past should be killed and eaten by flesh and brain eating amoebas.

Keeping the upper and lower as a matched set would probably yield best results in any auction or sale.

OP, good luck to you and your friend…

That too 👆 either way, tear em down and get rid of the junk obscuring the view of precious.

Thanks gentleman. Appreciate the responses. Anyone have an idea of value of the matched upper / lower set? I’ve looked at gunbroker but I didn’t know if their often inflated prices were accurate. Thanks again.

Sounds really ODD that someone removed ALL the KAC parts and installed aftermarket shit.
Maybe KAC made an error in their records.

I found it odd too. That said, it was sold in 1993 as a complete rifle. Who knows when the original rifle was cannibalized and for what reason. Can only go by what KAC says. The current owner bought it as is and doesn’t know the history. I was told he bought it during the last AWB scare which I’m assuming was right after Sandyhook.

Is the seller willing to move the lower?
