Ok I'm tired of the crappy stock on my rifle. Will the sps tactical hogue stock work with the varmint barrel? Seen a few on here and eBay for short money, I was thinking it would be an affordable upgrade. Any help would be appreciated.

I bought a sps plastic stock for the bottom metal. So I already have that, will the hogue free float the barrel? If not I might as well use the sps plastic.

it might...i got a Refmington 700 with 26" heavy barrel and came with plastic stock. Got a take off hogue and i could not line the barrel up right. Got a P H-Sprecision stock was great but did not fit me and punished my shoulder as the LOP was to short and no recoil pad. Just got a Evolution Xlr on order.... It never ends...

Bought a Dick's Sporting Goods special run 700-V (ADL)in .308. Came with a really crappy stock and trigger. Pulled the action, replaced the stock with a B&C Tactical Adjustable and mounted a Jewell trigger. The rifle, after rebate and selling the scope which came with it, cost me $449. Bought some stock drop bottom iron from a BDL version for the new stock for $50. Ended up adding about an additional $700. It shoots good.
If you're going to do some dot drills, make sure the reticle of your scope doesn't cover the 1/2" dot. Kinda messes up your groups.
