I have a used B&C stock that was inlet for a different bottom metal. Now I have some sizable gaps that I would like to try and fill. Any suggestions on what to use? I will repaint the stock after I am finished.

    Thanks

Put release agent on the metal and fill in the gaps with Fastweld 2 part epoxy, you should be able to find the filler at Grainger's or Fastenal or just search the internet.

You can work it down with a file and sandpaper after it has cured.

    Paint and GO...

Really any decent two part hardware store epoxy will do the job. Use the slower cure stuff, not the one minute product.

JB weld for that would be perfect. It flows out nice and cheaper than Devcon for that small area.

    Another vote for JB.

Turtle wax on your metal or releasing agent of your choice and devcon. You can probably texture the devcon when it about half way hardens if desired as well.

Crap, I forgot to subscribe to my own thread. I thought I was being ignored, but now I see I have lots of great replies. Thanks.

Mike, thanks for the offer but I'm going to tinker with this one until I get it so messed up I'm in there begging for help. It's a bit of a spare parts rifle. Besides you need to save your energy for my Tikka build and 1911.

So just to be clear (unclear at step 3):
    1. Releasing agent on the metal.
    2. 2 part epoxy to fill the gap.
    3. Remove metal before or after the epoxy is setup completely?
    4. Sand and/or file to desired end product.
    5. Paint (my next "first time" project).

    Thanks
