Re: help with Coal???

I like the Hornady gage, however know that you will have the difference between the headspace of the Hornady modified case and your fired brass. I have yet to see a modified case match up with the chamber headspace.
I prefer to use a fired formed piece of brass and slit the case neck with a dremel tool to control the neck tension. Place a bullet in the case a chamber it and eject it carefully. Then place it on your press and run it up into your seating die. Have the seating stem up far enough that you know it will not touch the bullet when raised to the full stroke. Then slowly turn your seating stem down until you feel it touch the bullet. That will be your die setting with the bullet touching the lands.

+1 for Suasponte. Just mock up a cartridge and use a bullet comparator to measure ogive distance after carefully seeing where ogive hits the lands -- eject carefully so bullet doesn't change position upon ejection.
