i am building a 6.8 upper for deer, and hogs..

planning on using a 18" WOA barrel, and WOA upper receiver with lo profile gas blocks...pretty standard stuff..

my question..

i want to us the hogue rifle length forearm because it has no rails, holes, and its textured....but will this thing even fit over my gas blocks? I have a friend who had a hogue forearm years back and i remember there being clearence issues...

thanks

Re: help with forearm

The Hogue overmolded handguards are nice for a target/bench build, but you are correct on the potential gas block issue. The handguards are roughly 2" in outside diameter which only gives you around 1.75" or so of internal diameter for the gas block/tube to clear. You can either: a) be extremely careful when you decide on a gas block for your build and only go with one that will fit under the narrow Hogue tube; or 2) go with a rifle-length gas system on your 6.8 build instead of a mid-length and don't worry about the gas block at all which will be in front of the handguard.

thats the thing...i dont want taps, holes, or anything......just a rubber forearms..
