    All,

I just helped a friend with a .224 VK. build, and we're having cycling issues.

    Specs:

    PSA Upper and Lower
    PSA 6.8 SPC II BCG
Ranier Arms 20" Rifle Plus Two Barral
    Superlative Arms Gas Block (Adjustable).
Ruger Precision Rifle Buttstock and Carbine Buffer tube. With 6.8 spring and buffer.

We have tried multiple times to get this rifle cycling, but the bolt never budges. If we open the gas block to 4.5 Revs we get nothing. Fully opened we get tons of carbon. Nothing we do gets this cycling. The BCG never even moves. We do, however, get carbon on the gas key.

    Any advice?

    let's check the obvious...

is the gas block aligned properly?

are the holes big enough? not the first time someones had to drill out their gas port larger
Thanks for the reply. I thought it was aligned perfectly. Is there a better method to ensure this? How do you know without a shadow of doubt that it is correct? Is there a tool?

The barrel has a dimple for the gas block screw. I lined that up perfectly. Sounds like it might not be in the perfect spot.

While this sounds silly... make sure the gas tube is installed correctly as well. ( yes , I just saw one installed backwards.. )

And while this doesn't help right now... these will help assure better alignment.

Remember to leave a little space between the barrel shoulder and the GB... sometimes the space is needed because of anyone using conventional handguards and the handguard end cap( retainer ) would fill that space.
