Howdy,

New to the forum here. Recently purchased a Savage LRP in 6.5 Creedmoore and I am having trouble settling on the right piece of glass. I am torn between getting an FFP scope and a 2ndFP scope. I only plan on shooting steel and animals not competition so I don't really need a FFP scope BUT... My best friend was an 0321 in the Marine Corps and went to sniper school and all they used were first focal plane scopes for the reason that regardless of power setting your dope was the same where as with a second focal plane scope your dope changes with the power setting. While most FFP scopes cost a ton I'm not looking to pay an arm and a leg being that its not a custom gun. Looking to spend anywhere from 1400-1700. Your help and expertise is greatly appreciated!

Here's what I've found so far... I just don't know how good the glass is being that its a Bushnell. If it was a AI 338 Lapua I'd gladly buy a S&B SSDS

With that budget, there are quite a few FFP scopes, and though I grew up using SFP, I'm going more to FFP. Question, if you don't or will not know ranges, go FFP. If you will always have a rangefinder with you, SFP will be OK. Both still have their place.
That being said, I have that scope and absolutely love it. Bushnell Elite tactical scopes came on to the scene and have a strong following based on quality glass and coatings and overall construction. They are just great scopes and give you the nice features. You would be very happy with that Bushnell and I think very pleasantly surprised.
