Gunsmithing Help with stupid question- changing stocks Rem 700

I've got an extra gun with a cheap stock and I'm having trouble reassembling the gun. Cold be God's way of telling me to get a better stock, but I want to use this one for now....

Gun is a 700P in .223 (nicely chopped to 20.5"), stock is the hogue overmold w/ pillar off a 700AAC. When I tighten the stock/action screws, the bolt binds. Is my screw too long? Should I remove material from end of screw? shim it?

Help! Thanks...........

Sounds like you need to shorten the screws - a very common (and minor) problem.
