I am planning on getting a 700p for my first long range rifle but tell me The pros and cons of getting it in a 308 vs 300. I plan on shooting out to 800yds target shooting might do some hunting with it but I don't know. What is the reloading price difference?

The 300 wm,wsm,etc. not sure which one your talking about. If your talking about the 300 wm barrel life will definitely be shorter and as far as reloading goes the cost will most definitely be greater.

.308 = plenty of factory and reman. match loads for a good price
Very long barrel life
plenty for 800 yards
easy to reload
easy to shoot

.300WM = expensive factory ammo
very short barrel life
laser like trajectory at 800 yards
lots of recoil
lots of muzzle blast
Really should only be considered by advanced users (personal opinion) as the recoil and muzzle blast frequently leads to flinching.
