On Friday night Michael Bane told me that BATFE visited the Taurus booth at SHOT Show and declared that the 28 gauge revolver was in fact a SBS (Short Barreled Shotgun), not a handgun.

Taurus USA imports their pistols from the Taurus factory in Brazil. If they were imported the sample 28 gauge SBS and specified in the US Customs / BATFE paperwork that is was a pistol, they could be in trouble.

my guess .. ( Smooth Bore ) , that what got them . but for design and visual appearance it a revolver 'pistol' .
shot pellets for pussies . They should have cut-rifled the Bore and have 28 gauge 'SLUGS' pushed out that puppy .

Also they will have a tough time justifying any kind of metallic cartridge because the diameter of the 28 gauge is 550 and that means that it automatically falls under the category of destructive device. Anything over 50 cal is automatically a DD. So they're pretty much screwed even though it's a kind of cool looking revolver. I assumed it was just made as a publicity stunt not as a production item. I'm sure Customs clearance or whatever won't end up being massively difficult on them. But there is no way they can offer this as a product to the public. Chears. Sirhr

Ya it a novelty and Taurus just stretching there legs a little and showing off . there No Way they could justify ever making a retail run of that boat anchor ..LOL

Not saying they could not sell a few to the redneck halfwit's to wave around on the Youtube, but you got to really ask yourself WTF you going to use that monster for ???

Yet this is the same country, that has no problem handing me a 134D, 175mm or any other weapon I desired to defend it with? I call that a double std in the home of those who think they are free. If I can't own it with out all the hoops, don't ever ask me to use same defending those who have never stepped up but think they can rule me.

Actually, they could easily sell it as Destructive Devie. Because while Hughes Amendment screwed us out of Class III automatics, Destructive Devices are all just fine and dandy!

Personally, I think we should be working on repealing the Hugues Amendment! But until we get a better Senate after 2018... the party of Resistance will stop everything. Power to the people is their chant... powerless sheep is their dream.

    Cheers,

i thought legally in order to be classified a SBS, it had to be designed to be fired from the shoulder?

wouldnt this be an AOW?, just like the serbu shorty?

Would make a damn fine sidearm for wading around in moccasin territory. Also probably a hoot to shoot tree-rats with.

Guns fuck up quail, cast net and a good dog trump a gun. Once you get good you can get the hole covey with one throw.

Sounds like we've hunted some of the same places. There's a place below Heflin that I believe I would have got as many birds with a badmitten racket as I did with an O/U 28.The guys dog had never hunted real birds and would point right on top of them. The birds would just sit there like WTF is this...

I am asking why they don't Chrome plate it for the ultimate in useful Pimp Gat ?. It has 'pistol whip' written all over it, and looks like it should have be a prop. used in a Bad Dolph Lundgren movie .

It's certainly NOT an SBS. The only problems I see are the barrel whether it's rifled or smoothbore, and the bore size itself. A 28 gauge is essentially a .55 caliber (14mm) and would be considered a DD if the ATF deems it as "non-sporting".

I learned it in Fla, an murdered them in the central part of the state. Only hunted them that way 3-4 times here in bama. The guy I took with me was like WTF you mean we don't need any guns. My latest cast net is totally one handed with a ring, so no way to lose any teeth now. :) Took me awhile to learn that one, but I'd bet it would be easier to get over a palmetto bush if I had to. Got stopped by the game warden here in bama an he could not believe it, until he seen it first hand.
