its a group called StoryCorps. they are stories or interviews turned into animations.

listening to this one makes me think of my grandfather and my uncle and all my family that served and suffered after. its easy now to see this soldier had ptsd and it stayed with him til the end

anyway look around the stories.

Good post. Its hard to imagine the scares a soldier carriers with him for those like myself that haven't served. Makes one appreciate the sacrifice all the more.

its sad to me cause how many suffered PTSD like him and carried that burden with no access to counseling. no one wants to kill. my buddy was in somali on the ground in the marines, he isnt the same guy i grew up with. i know he saw and did shit and it hurts me so i know and see what its done to him. he is getting care and is 100% service related so he is lucky in some respects.

Re: hey i found these on youtube

PTSD is no joke. My grandfather had it and was undiagnosed. He landed on Normandy, helped liberate France, fought in the Ardennes, until he was wounded in Germany. He suffered from nightmares and would sleep-walk until the day he died. He had it so bad one time he burned all of his uniforms and photos. Survivor's guilt, I suppose. He never talked about the war except for a few funny incidents that happened along the way. He would avoid cold weather as much as possible since it reminded him of the Bulge. I can only imagine how much mental torment he went through. Even though all that, he was the greatest grandfather a kid could want.

Kona, sounds like your grandfather was in either the 1st ID, 4th ID or 1st/3rd battalion 359th Reg 90ID with a slight chance of being in the 2nd ID. Regardless, him and axemans friend won't be taken for granted. I always try to show my gratitude as I can't serve, rheumatoid arthritis.

A friend of mine's was in WW ll and i use to take him up to the VA in Richmond abt every 3 months for years. One morning i went over to take him and his son told me he had passed in the night. He also said that for abt a year he use to wake up screaming and giving orders. He was shot nine times and could see the Jerry's face that shot him and many other things. I still miss him but his battles are over now, never to return. Sgt. George H. Christadoulou U.S.A. Rip
