Hey there!

My name is Bob (age 30) and I am from central Ohio.

I have been shooting for about 10 years and enjoy it with my friends as well as my wife. I am on this forum to learn about optics as I just started shooting in the 400-700 yard range (400 mostly, hehe). My two long range guns are a 1990 HK SR9 (308 battle rifle with polygonal bore) and a CMMG MK3 CBR .308-AR.

I have recently been itching to get into a higher power optic for my CMMG AR10. I had a Millett LRS and thought it was faulty so I sent it back for a full refund. Turns out it was an imperfection on the crown. Apparently the Millett wasn't the problem. BUT, with this new chance to do it right I am considering buying a new optic that is not a Millett as my budget has increased.

Here is what I am looking for in a scope:
1. a round about "size" of 6-24x50
2. MOA Turrets
3. Mildot reticle
4. priced 600-900
5. exposed turrets
6. side focus "knob"

Here are the scopes I have come up with after research:
1. Vortex Viper PST FFP MOA - 860.00 shipped
2. Millett LRS 6-25x56 - 480.00 shipped
3. Trijicon Accupoint TR23-2 5-20x50 - 890.00 shipped
4. Bushnell elite Tac (not MOA though...) - 880.00 shipped
5. Zeiss Conquest HD5 5-25x50 - 900.00

Are there any other optics I should be considering at that price point and "size" demand? I AM 100% willing to buy a used scope!!

Here's a few pics of my guns (yes, I am a photo/art nerd)

Welcome from another Buckeye. You'd be more than welcome to join a few of us at Rayners for a practice day and check out our equipment and shoot them to try out some various scopes. Rayners LR match is this coming weekend (Sept 21-22), come on out and there will be about every scope you'd want to look thru and most everyone help answer any questions you may have.

Hey there!

I met a guy who goes out there to shoot. I met him at the Delaware state park range about a month ago. Nice guy.

I will be tied up that weekend. maybe next time?
