I've had a P30LS V1 LEM for a couple months now and decided that I don't really like the manual safety. Is it possible to remove it and replace it with whatever the corresponding part is for the non-S variants?

I've also read that I can convert from a V1 LEM to a heavier V4 LEM by swapping out some springs. Anyone know which springs I need?

Re: HK P30LS question

I'm pretty sure that the frames are different, and it's not really possible to remove the safety.

I had considered chopping the thumb safety down to nothing, then welding/epoxying a piece in place to prevent it from ever engaging.

Changing the pull weight is easy, but I don't think you'll be able to remove the safety.

Good luck though.

Re: HK P30LS question

Thanks for the responses. I'm not up to welding and epoxying anything on my pistols so I'll just have to keep researching. I sent an email to HK USA about it so we'll see what they say.

Good luck with changing from one variant to another. I ordered a LEM conversion for my USP .40 in 2006 while I was enrolled at the academy. I to this day have not recieved anything. From what I have seen in HK you're better off buying the variant you want installed by the factory than trying to get the parts. IMHO their cs isn't the best department to deal with.

In the past year or so, things have changed dramatically with HK's customer service.

They used to be atrocious, these days they should be pretty helpful.
