Not sure, I was offered these at what looks like a good price. One is a Non retail brown box with the extra threaded barrel and factory laser NIB the other is compact 40 with rail. What do these bring.

I had a full sized USP 40 and found it to be very bulky. It was a very good gun but just way to big for my tastes. Quality wise I would say they are great guns.. but just wish they were more, I don't know if the word is compact, but smaller overall.

Why my USPc 45 went away.

OP-if you have a deal that you are happy getting what you are paying for you got a good deal.

    Re: HK semi autos 40&45

I've got a full size USP 40 and my brother has a 9. Both are pretty nice guns but there are others that i personally like better. In the county where I work we are allowed to purchase and use the firearm of our choice as long as it's in 9mm, 40 S+W, 45ACP or 357 Sig for auto's. The USP 45 is the most popular right now though. Most like the grip on them way better than the Glock 21 in 45. I really do like the wat that the new HK45 feels best and thats what i would buy if i were getting a new gun.

Do they make the P30 in a .45 version? I've not held one but they look less chunky/blocky than the standard USP versions.

    Re: HK semi autos 40&45

I don't care much for the newer models (HK45, P30) because they eliminated the manual safety and put a decocker in the back of the slide. The P2000 style takedown levers are OK I guess but I have no trouble disengaging the slide catch on the left side with either hand..so its a useless feature IMO.
I've been carrying a USPc.45 for a long time and will eventually drop in a compact tactical barrel for the extra 1" of barrel length and threads. The trigger takes some getting used to, like any other gun. For self-defense its quite accurate out to 25 yards.

    Re: HK semi autos 40&45

The HK45 is pretty much a "P30" version in 45 ACP, It has interchangable backstraps but lakes the changable sides I believe, but I might be wrong on that. I'm almost positve that the HK45 can be had in a version where you can carry it cocked and locked version if you choose to. I'm not sure what the comment about putting a decocker on the back of the slide is as I've never seen or handled one that didn't have the thumb safety on the side of it? Maybe it's a different variant?

    Re: HK semi autos 40&45

Thank you for all the info. I did the deal, and am very happy with it. I was concerned due to not liking Glocks and the common features the HK's have. After looking at the HK's I like them very much.
