So I'm finally interested in accessorizing my pistol, an HK USP 9mm, but it seems it's really hard to find stuff to fit the HK's.

I was interested in the Viridian C5L laser/light combo but you have to buy an extra $50 piece to make it fit, then they don't make a holster for HK etc. If I recall, I've always had a hard time finding stuff for HK, but never for any other mfg. Is that still true?

Anyway, any suggestions on what to get and where to find decent accessories (lasers/sights) for HK USP pistols? I'm about to trade it for a Springfield XD if I can't.

    Thanks.

    Re: HK USP options?

There are a variety of options, but none are exactly "ideal" for mounting a light/laser to the USP series of pistols because of the proprietary rail interface. The OEM HK UTL (light only) works...obviously...but it is an old, antiquated POS at a high price with only 60 lumens of juice to back it up. Then there's the BA-5/BA-6 units from Laser Devices (laser only...some are even HK logo marked)...nice units, fit/finish are excellent, but again...no light. Laser Devices also makes the LAS TAC-2. Insight Technologies makes several different units for the USP without requiring adapters, including the M3, M3X and M6X. There are others, but none are coming to mind at present. You might run a search of HKPro and see what else you can turn up.

As for holsters that will work with lights (especially those above), check with Safariland as most of their Mil/Tactical and some Duty holsters can be had for use with the USP 9mm with a light attached. Also, companies like Bladetech and others will make you a holster spec'd for your pistol/light/laser combo for not a whole lot of dough. Worth a look anyway. Might be worth a look at Safariland's holster finder too, as it'll allow you to input your pistol by make/model/etc., and then select from a drop-down of lights and then it'll give you a listing of all holsters made that will work on that combo. One more source of info.

    Re: HK USP options?

I say, if you already have the HK, keep it. The USP is a great gun but I never could justify the price on one since they seemed to be at the high end of the competition. But, it depends how much, YOU like it, not me. I think the HK is better than the Springfield and retains it's value more.

    Re: HK USP options?

Thank you for all the info, definitely gives me some stuff to research. I would like to keep this pistol, I bought it new in 1999 but have never done any mods or added accessories to it. The Viridian C5L says it's "universal" but then I saw something about an adapter too. I contacted them directly for clarification. Thanks again all.

    Re: HK USP options?

I have two USP45's, one with a surefire adapter and the other a gg&g. Both have a TLR-1s mounted, I run a felon series kydex holster from zero concealment and it works pretty darn good, better than the other options I've tried.

Love the pistol, now I finally have a way to carry it in the way I wanted.

    Good luck
