So, out of reloader15, I stop by the local cabelas and pick up some Hodgdon h1000(they were out of reloader15 also. I didn't keen to get the h1000, but now I'm stuck with it. Anyone have data for the 308 with this powder? I've looked everywhere and can't find anything.

H1000 is not a very good choice for .308 Winchester. That powder burns too slow for this application. I do use H1000 for a 300 RUM but not in a 308 win.

I'd say give Hodgdon a ring tomorrow and see what they say about a load in 308. It probably isn't the best application of H1000 but it will push a bullet.

I use h1000 in a 6mm Super LR, and i know guys are using it in 6CM and several other calibers pushing heavy bullets for the caliber so it should work. As stated it's a slow powder. It is optimum with a heavy bullet per caliber. ie. 230grn bullet in a 30cal. The biggest problem with H1000 is that i'll completely fill the case before you ever get any decent velocity out of it. I'm 106% full in my 6SLR to get moderate velocities. Just food for thought.

I've got Hodgdon's 2012 reloading magazine and there is no useage of H-1000 anywhere in the .308 Winchester loading data, for bullets ranging from 110grs all the way up to 200grs and they have a lot of powders tested covering a lot of bullets.

Buy a 7RM, 300WM or 338LM and you're golden, but for the .308 Win, don't waste your time.

Unless you have a 40inch barrel or something to that effect you will NOT be able to use H1000 in your 308. It's a popular powder and you should be able to sell it very easily. Put it on craigslist (sporting section) and it'll be sold within an hour or so.

You're not going to get any muzzle velocity (about 1850 with Nosler CC 200gr and 105% fill). But your pressure will be REALLY low.

Here is what QuickLoad says:

You will never get enough powder in there to get any MV. Maybe bury the bullet in the case, might help a tad...
