Due to the current shenanigans and powder shortage, I'm exploring options.

My local shop has a good amount of Longshot on hand, and I was wondering if anyone had experience with this powder? Load data shows I can use it to reload for my .40 pistol as well as my 12 ga. Versa Max, which would certainly make life easier than trying to track down more powder for the pistol.

Thoughts?

I like it very much in my 10mm...I think you'll find it more than satisfactory for the 40sw. No idea on 12 ga.

I believe it was developed for heavy 1-1/4 and 1-3/8 loads in 12 ga. It'll also work for handicapp 12ga trap loads as well. In 12ga consider it as a "magnum" powder.

Max published for 40sw is 6 gr Longshot with 200 gr.
I worked up to 12 gr before the brass started to yield.
I did not chrono but the recoil was intolerable.
I was using a Glock 22 with stock springs, but I TIG welded up the feed ramp for case support to the case web.
