Have considered Arca Swiss but decided I don’t want a rail or adapter protruding from my McMillan stocks.

you can put a little 3-4" plate just when needed
or use an anschutz/ingenuity type rail sunken into the stock

I’m choosing carryability over stability. A recessed adapter might work on my match gun though.
