I have a 24" 1-9 twist 223 Rem that shoots the Hornady 50gr Z-Max very well. I use Hodgdon H322 and Fed 205M and am able to get consistent 1/2 MOA groups.

Thinking about rebarelling to a 26" 1-7 twist 223 Rem.

I've got 6 or 700 left so I definitely want to use them. In addition, I still have probably 14# of H322 left. Plus (when you can get them) the Hornady's are pretty inexpensive for a target bullet).

Has anyone used these lighter bullets in a fast twist 223?

I haven't used 50 Horn Z-Max but I have use the 53 Gr A-max in my Mann Accuracy Device 1:7 (5.56 on a Remington 700 Action).

When I got my Mann from CMP I did some research and learned the army used the 52 A-Max to test the device. It shot the best groups (100 yards) of the rounds they tested so I decided to give them a go.

They work, they work great. I use 25 grns of 3031 and they shoot like a house on fire.

I use Hornady TAP in 40 grain in my Colt 10'3" 1/7 work gun. It is an extremely accurate load in my gun.
