I can't believe how accurate the first batch of Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor 140gn ELD Match ammo is out of my RPR. The optics are brand new....Vortex Viper Gen II 5.5x25x50 MRAD. I shot several groups between .5" and .75" @ 100yds in perfect conditions.
My question is, and I'm sure it's been asked a million times, but....what powder is Hornady using to get the published 3710fp with this ammo? There are several 140gn bullet loads on the Hodgdon reloading site using their powder....H414 being one of their fastest accurate loads. I use H414 in my pet load for my 220 Swift AI. Good Lord this Hornady ammo shoots good!

Stay cool.

My Bergara Premium HMR PRO and Seekins Havak shoot this Hornady load to .5/.3 groups. When loading 7-08 140's I found H4350 and H415 to both perform well accuracy and MV.

I think you mean 2710

Youll never get an answer on the proprietary powder they use. Rumor that it used to be h4350 but thats awhile in the past now.

And you said it there in your own statement, you saw with your own eyes that there are several kinds you could use.

I'm sure the 3710 was supposed to be 2710, but Hornady used H4350 for their AMAX loads and actually printed their recipe on the ammo box. They've since switched to a non-canister powder, so if you want to replicate the load yourself, try H4350 or Reloder 16. Work your way up, but most have found a nice node in the 42.0 grain area when using Hornady brass.

3710 with that bullet would be supersonic to 2125 yards and need 4.19 mills to 1000.
Call me impressed with hornandy an 6.5 Creedmoor.

Wish my 260 could do that!

My 260 has a nice happy spot at about 2710 with 142SMK’s and 140 ELD-M’s.
