Ordered a us optics sn3 Tpal 5x25 and went with the MPR reticle, After a little more reading and looking into it I switched to the Horus due to all the good things I've heard. I want some more input ups/downs of this reticle.

Re: Horus reticle advise

Long story: Search this site; it's everywhere on it.

That said, I used one for about a year. There's nothing inherently wrong with it. The Horus works best for inexperienced and/or beginner shooters who have not practiced much with a Mil reticle. But it's not a panacea. And it's very expensive for what it is and what it does.

Just goes to show you, there are as many opinions as there are options. Graham, whom I know well and respect, has the EXACT opposite view of the Horus as I do. I started with one a few years ago as a newbie, and hated it---way too overwhelming. Switched to a gen IIxl and learned with it. After a few years and alot of shooting, I picked up an HDMR to try a Horus again. Having the benefit of experience, I now find the Horus to be an excellent tool.

Re: Horus reticle advise

I agree w/ Grahm and used the Horus H25 for years. it actually taught me tons about the mil system because its right there in front of your eye. I now use the HDMR w the G2 as I no longer require an entire Mil grid to be in every shot I take.

In addition, as a new shooter, I found that not having to dial my dope was great benifit, it was one less thing to have to remember. At every match and practice range across the country you will find someone that either fogot to dial up/ or back to zero just before missing their last shot...........

Re: Horus reticle advise

actually the grid is more dependable as it not mechanical, so unles they cut the glass wrong you should be fine, even so once you learn "your dope for your gun and scope" you pretty much cant go wrong

with that said and reliable system that is capable of both is what i believe i have w/ the G2 and Bushnell. Dialing does have distinct advantages so its not all "bad"
