Always enjoyed Jeff Cooper's writing and his Scout rifle approach.

The GAP TR rifle I bought was with a thought towards a Scout rifle. Probably over weight by 4 pounds and the scope is not forward mounted.

What are the exact specs for a Scout rifle though?

My GAP in .308 with a 22 inch barrel at 12 pounds even and NightForce NXS Compact 2.5-10 x 32 scope.

Under ~7 pounds, buis (if not primary), <40", ~.308 power, forward optic if nessesary, stripper clip cut out if possible, low power or red dot sight.

Your rifle is just a not-so-light, accuate rifle, there ain't nothing wrong with that, but its far from a scout rifle.

Edit: Mr. Cooper was also not a huge fan of bi-pods from reading his book "The Art of the Rifle". Just learn how to use that excellent T.A.B. sling and its much more versatile!
