How did your state fare?

They aren't going to dare put Texas on there. Taxes are stupid, traffic is getting stupid... bleh!

I bitch, but right when I think I am having a rough time I realize that it's ok... after all, there is a Mr. Warren out there.

'Noo Yawker' here. This state, and California, has each other by the throats currently trying to win the "Biggest Derp Award" when it comes to taxes.

A whole package of bills pushed through the state's rectal orifice not too long ago, and all of them are tax hikes. Plastic shopping bag ban to go into effect, replaced by a 5 cent fee on PAPER bags, and the collected revenue to be used to distribute and promote 'free' reusable shopping bags. And then, "congestion pricing" on traffic entering upper Manhattan, also known as "death pricing", because it will drive a lot of car service companies, small time delivery services, and independent ride-share drivers out of business. AND last but not least, more transit fare hikes for a system that is FUBAR and not getting better any time soon.

Just last week, a routine trip to Chinatown turned into a 1-hour PITA. One stop on the commuter rail, not bad. Then transfer to the subway. Holy shit. 20 minute ride took 56 mins because of a "malfunctioning signal" somewhere. That shit also always tends to happen right near rush hours too LOL. The "capital construction" projects that the current and former mayors flaunted are already leaking, peeling, growing mold, and chipping again in supposedly renovated stations. Trains themselves reek of piss, vomit and unwashed bum ass for the most part. On the plus side, got to watch some EDP hobo swathed in dirt caked rags spazz the fuck out by himself on the platform while the train was being held up.

And of course, they want to charge $3.00 per swipe now to access the shit show. No pun intended. But still love Manhattan though. Nightlife is good and still plenty of hot wimmenz around. :)

Minus side? Cannot (legally) CC my handguns there. Next best thing: Schrade SCHA6 assisted opening combat folder with 4 inch "Rambo" blade and impact pommel. Bites hard on both ends if it is ever called upon.

One of the problems in Texas is that at least in Dallas the place is full of $35,000/Year Millionaires.

Basically folks driving fancy trucks (that they use as a car) that cost way too much for their paycheck, and going out to eat / party all the time, way above their income level, then finding it hard to save or afford anything but a crappy apartment (which are getting crazy expensive).

Taxes are better here than some states, at least we just have a state sales tax and then taxes on your property. Other places have that Plus a state income tax and sometimes even Plus a city income tax.

Now if we didn't have to spend 11 Billion dollars each bloody year on services to Illegal Criminal foreigners the State would be way cheaper to live in and things would be so much better.... But good luck with that, I bet they import more Criminals and up the spending till it busts the budget & the next time Democrats are in, they try to force through some new "Income Tax" to pay for it.

You got that right, I live just north of Dallas up by lake Texoma, occasionally we make the dreaded trip down there to work, every time they’ll have 2 new high end cars, a high dollar house and it will be completely empty, and when your done with the job, they break out The CC, lots of times it’ll take a couple to get one to clear. Blows my mind.

Fort Worth is becoming the same way.

The cost of living here is much lower that many places. Having you income based upon Redstone (NASA side) or Atlanta is a huge plus. I know many here still working making 100-250K with property taxes at $300.00 a year, car tags at $65-100, home an auto ins for 3 rides at 1800.00 a year. Not everything is as the media would have you believe. Your state provide free shooting ranges while encouraging the public to learn how to shoot? Yes, life is a bitch stuck in a shit hole state, but Bama is not one of them as long as you don't live in BHM, MT/GY or Mobile.

When the lowest paycheck of one person in my household is well more than the average full household paycheck in every one of the top ten on that list, I don't think we're faring too badly.

The problem with my state is too many are coal miner/oil roustabout "rich", with the $80k grocery getter trucks to to prove it.
