so im having a very hard time deciding on an optic at this point. only scopes ive had that are what id call mid to high end would be a vortex pst ffp 6-24x50 and a razor 5-20x50. others have been nikon monarch etc. im having a very hard time deciding between 3 scopes. the xrs, atacr and the gen 2 razor 4.5-27x56. im finding very good deals on the xrs, about 1550 shipped. ive only used moa but have considered switching, with the xrs i would have to. not to big of a problem as i dont have any tactical scopes atm. just got a nikon m223 thats going back because it foggs way to easily for being "fog proof" so i could replace that with a mil mil scope as well. i guess my main question is how does the xrs compare glass wise to the pst and gen 1 razor? ive looked through an atacr at scheels but it was inside so didnt show much. i want the razor the most but at the price im almost wanting to go cheaper. i dont make alot and takes me awhile to save up for what i want. trying to be as informed as i can. ive been searching the web like crazy. still not sure what to do. i know the razor and atacr are going to be better scopes, but by how much? i could get the xrs in a week or so but will have to save a couple more months or sell some more things to get the other two. any suggestion/opinions? thanks!

I got one coming in mail should be here end of week $1550 through Bushnell military program. XRS/ FDE/ G2DMR. I would have gone vortex but I dont want to wait 6mnth to a year on backorder. I am very pleased with my 3.5-21 dmr and the LRHS I had so we will see if I still want to swap to vortex once available.

main reason im worried about glass is because i will use this scope alot for hunting. ive seen some of the biggest deer around here (nebraska) where theres not much light left in the day or very early mornings. how did your dmr do in low light conditions? i just dont want to regret my decision!
its possible if i get the bushy now for my 308, if i get the 260 or 6.5 creedmoor i want, i can get the razor with my taxes down the road.
has anyone ever used the return offering bushnell offers on these scopes? says they will give you your money back if your not happy. if thats legit i guess it wont hurt to give it a try.

The XRS starts lacking definition in the highest power ranges and the eye relief box gets a little tricky at 30x for me. It is a great scope and I love it despite all that. The reason being is that I only use the full power when shooting groups on paper. Whenever shooting steel at 1000+ I find myself subconsciously dialing down to 12-15 power anyways, where the scope is as clear as any other... Just my opinion though.

im not to worried about the 30x magnification. the razor is 27 and the atacr is 25. anything on top of those powers is just extra to me. i wonder how the xrs compares at those magnifications. going to be hard to find someone who has the razor or atacr who also has the xrs. why im wondering how it compares to the 5-20 razor and pst line since if actually owned those.
wonder if any vendors will have any special pricing for sh members on the new razors. might have to check into that b4 making a decision

I sold the HD 5-20 to fund my XRS. As much as I loved my HD, the XRS has a few features that had me sold on it. As far as the clarity I don't think I downgraded at all, but I did sell the HD before I got the xrs so I never compared side by side. I don't think you can go wrong with the XRS. Plus you will be saving a little bit of money as well! I'm pretty sure there's one up for sale right now for 1450$ shipped in the Optics section...

That about sums it up. I run the XLRs on everything now, after running S&B and Premiers and having to scale down due to finances. Glass is good, but performance falls off pretty rapidly over 25x. I will rarely use them above 25x, even for ranging. Great optic for the money now that they can be found for much less that the $2K they demanded when they hit the market.

I own the Viper PST 6x24x50FFP and the Bushy XRS 4.5x30x50FFP. When comparing the two I believe the glass has est. 15% better clarity at all light levels. This obviously is not based on scientific results but rather on opinion. I am sorry that I cannot give a comparison of all three but I don't own the NF. Overall I am more impressed with the Bushy for its clarity and features than I am with the PST. I do not ever use the illuminated reticle on the PST and the Bushy does not have that feature. Both are good scopes in their price ranges. I hope this helps, I answered your question to the best of my ability based on my opinion.

Thank you I've been interested in something nicer than the pst because it's optical quality falls off a bit after 12x, however it's perfectly usable. The turrets track well with nice clicks and nice reticle.
