All components being equal: brass, powder/bullet lot, primers, etc. How far ahead of myself should I get? 200? 500? 5000? Just curious as I've "heard" mixed reviews. Cant imagine it's any different than stocking factory stuff. Just looking for some thoughts. Thanks

Many trains of thought on this.
Myself, I would never change lot #'s of brass or powder on a barrel, period. Buy enough to toast the barrel. Let me say brass and barrel life mean little to me, so if my barrel is expected to last 1500 rds, I'd buy 300 pcs of brass and hope for 5 firings. Or say it is a Dasher, I'd want 7 firings from 300 pcs. 9lbs of powder at 40gr per charge is enough to waste an 6 XC, this is easy to figure out.
I do not worry about primers, even though I am usually stocked, same primer, different lot rarely changes anything.
Concerning bullets, again enough to toast a barrel ideal, but in my experience, if you have enough of one lot to use half your barrel life, lot to lot changes become easier. I would never recommend or buy 100ct boxes at a time, that's a circus. Lot changes in bullets can result in ogive variations, which is a way bigger obstacle than just a diff in a ogive lengths.
Whatever you do, paying interest on a CC just to have all this shit is unwise unless it is an election yr and shit not looking good, lol

Largely agree with Milo, As much as you can buy without it resulting in debt or divorce. In terms of primers, think at least 5K at a purchase. For handguns, buying a pound at a time will do. For precision/long range rifle, buy 8 lbers.
