How far out do you guys set up your chrono's? I was at the range the other day and ran a bunch of loads across my CED M2 from my AR. I put the chrono at about 10 ft and was getting quite a few "no read" errors. When I got home, I re-read the manual's troubleshooting section and it said that maybe I was too close and muzzle blast was interferring with the sensors. DO you chrono gurus set up further away? What's a good distance?
Follow up question: What program or formula do you use to compensate for the distance to give you true muzzle velocity? I tried a poor man's approach with JBM by setting the range readouts to 1 ft increments and then played with the muzzle velocity until I got the chrono velocity to be correct at the 10 ft distance. But that's a PITA. Is there a better way to calculate actual MV?
Thanks!
