How long should it take?

.... to get a barrel threaded, chambered, crowned and installed on an action?

I realized it depends on the backlog at the gunsmith, but for the busy shops that do this sort of thing, how long does it usually take?

Months. And then more months. But the wait is part of the fun. For me at least. Although it gives me way too much time to second guess myself and bug the crap outta the smiths.

If it's a local smith and they're usually not very busy with work, shouldn't take more than a week or so at most. Now if your're sending it of to reputable gunsmith I would expect them to have it for awhile if they're busy. But like you said it all depends on their work orders at hand at the time.

3-6 months depending on work load, usually enough time for me to save to money to pay for it and get a pile of ammo supply for the new toy.
