Anyone have any idea how many rounds I can expect out of my FN A3G (308). I'm shooting 167 Scenars with 44.3 of VV N150. I've had it since about Oct 09, and have put about 3000 rounds thru it since then. It still groups (with me) at 3/4 pretty consistently (it could probably do better, I'm not sure I can). How many rounds can I expect to get out of it before its time to replace it. Will my groups just start to get wider as it reaches the end of its life. Anyone else shot one of these to the end of its life. Just wondering. Thanks for all the help.

supposedly when they built these they were supposed to hold 1/2moa for 10000rds. that was part of the original fbi requirements. if you do alittle searching I bet you can find the article it was up against the hs precision htr at the time.

I did look and found that it was supposed to go 10K, I was just wondering if anyone had actually gotten there, of if it was just an optimistic goal. Seems to be holding up after 3K. How long are other barrels supposed to hold up before they give out, or is 10K the norm. Should I be rationing the rounds thru my Rugers, or just plan on replacing barrels ever 3 years or so.

WHO CARES? 3000 rds cost $1500-3000. A new barrel will cost a grand total of $600 including color.
Shoot 'em until accuracy falls off. If it is a 1/2 MOA rifle--you'll know when it happens.
