How much Heat/Flame ? . For Breakdown of Red Liquid LockTight between 2 Threaded objects ?
Direct Flame, Time & Temp ?
    Also*. I have a Digital Thermometer .

LockTight Used on Thread-to-Thread (.30 Can to Muzzle Threads ) About 6 months back on .30 cal. AR .
Never had this much trouble breaking the bond of Red LockTight before just twisting it off with just Muscle .

    Also .
No finish on the barrel & it's just glass-bead Stainless & not to worried about fuckingup the cosmetic finish of the Can . I can just Duracoat it if it gets a little messed .
but I Just Want To Over Do It on the Heat .

If it was mine, I'd give it an indirect flame from a propane torch until I saw a little puff of smoke. This means the Loctite has cooked off. I bet it'd take about 15 seconds with that much heat.

I took it out today & ran a Mag. threw it to get it Hot but it did not cook the Locktight , The Can was far to Hot to even touch .

( My thinking ) . is that Direct Flame to muzzle end & let Heat creep up to Threads of Muz & Can . For like 15 Seconds for a 1st try ?
Or Keep it under 500 deg. on the Dig. Therm. ?
    .
If I am way-off Base let me know .

flash point is 150C/302F. if you search yahoo "red loctite removal" you will see. most guys are saying they used a heat gun not a torch

and loctite says 325* or 500* for hitemp stuff

    Soft,

What material is the can? Any chance of 'galling' or is it just the red-death holding it together?

Bring it up to about 350 degrees, and hold it there for about 5ish seconds. This "Shouldn't" harm anything metalurgically, but it is a process that isn't really recommended.

I just hope that there aren't further issues holding this together. Ergo, the galling question.

I generally just warm the parts up till you can touch them but not hold them and that is enough to soften it. In my line of work I do this on a daily basis, you just need to soften it not liquify it. Direct flame, moving back and forth over the area that is threaded is all that is needed.

Got it off this Morning .
Nothing was thread Galled . It was Smooth Threading & GTG before I used Red LockTight .
I put the Barrel in Vice & heated the Barrel with small & light blue-flame . Took 2 times seperat times heating to twist it off . But when it broke, It un-screwed smooth .

I am pretty sure this 1st time ever . problem of not being able to un-thread was because the way I prepped this time . I used acetone and cleaned real good both surfaces before bonding . & it sat several days curing before it even fired rounds out the Barrel .
This time it was a real bitch breaking it all free .
