How much for a rifle?

This is something I was just wondering. I know with a long range rifle you should put atleast $1,500 into it if not more, but with rimfire rifles they are alot cheaper. So how much should one expect to put into a decent .22lr rifle for training? I'm talking about a rifle that will let you move out to 2-300 yards, as well.

Re: How much for a rifle?

Probably depends on how much you want to spend and what feel and look you are going for.

For example if you have a R700 in an A5, you can easily build up a remington 40x in an a5 stock to give you the feel of the larger rifle.

If your not looking to go that extreme, I think you will find that one of the Savage Mark 2 models will fit the bill costing anywhere from 150-450 depending on features.

If you search there are many examples of 40x builds, and mark 2 builds

Thanks for the replys, guys. I've been wanting to get a savage mkII and wasn't sure if I would have to do after market add ons to get it to have decent accuracy at the longer ranges for a .22. I decided the .22lr because it is cheaper, I'm starting out, and don't have alot of money. Thanks for the info. =]
