How much hold over until you dial?

If I'm on the clock I'll hold elevation and wind. If I'm just at the range I'll dial elevation and hold wind. I very rarely dial wind as it is not often constant.

I can’t remember a time when I dialed wind.
I have dialed a half mil over to preserve an aiming dot.
