I'm just curious as to how often companies like USO or s&b introduce new generations and revolutionary design changes into their products. It seems to me like every now and then other companies like premier will spring up with a Heritage line, but I haven't seen much improvement when it comes to scopes over the last several years.

Interesting question. I don''t want to hijack your thread, I think it's related to your post. How different and in what ways is todays Leupold Varix X III 3.5-10x40 compared to a 15 year old model? Or any other scope that is that old, and still in the product line?

Regards,

Rick

That's because glass and optic technology hasn't really improved much in the last few years. The advantage now is who can produce and sell that level of quality at a lower price.

Biggest thing I noticed is the advent of zoom factors of more than 5-1.

Bushnell was one of the first to push the limit with the 6500 series, March has an 8-1 now. USO is working on an 8-1, based on the announcement on this board of the upcoming 1-8 model.

That's right. I try to steer clear of new stuff, too broke to pay attention these days.
