Rifle Scopes How rugged is the Leica 1200?

Just got one a while back and threw it in my pack along with my other shooting gear. It came with a soft case, but I'm a little concerned it's going to get damaged. Wondering if anyone knows how rugged these are?

If they're not that rugged, anyone know of a hard case for them that would protect it?

I have used them in a school environment. They were issued to students over and over. I have not worked there, so I don't know how many break. My issued Leica was beat down on the outside, but functioned perfectly. I put it through some more hell and when I turned it back in, it still worked as intended. I would say they are very durable.
If it was mine, I would put it in a hard case. I imagine you can get a small pelican case for about 30 dollars. It seems like 30 bucks is cheap insurance on a 600 item?

Mine stays in my pack and rides in the back of the Mule most of the time. I never go out of my way to be easy on it and it has held up fine. It reads over 1k all the time, and works in the dark as far as I can see what I am ranging. I think they are great, but you can break anything...

The Leica 1200's are pretty damn tough. If you have concerns about it rattling around in your pack or otherwise, pick up one of these case...they are worth the dough:

ETA: TT beat me to the punch as I was looking for the link!! Good kit...very much worth the investment to keep expensive electronics from harm in transit.

Mine has seen alot of rough use and action, I even managed to get a good scratch on the front lense, it still works OK but I plan on sending it in to Leica and get it fixed up.

By accident I left mine on the hood of my truck. I found out when it hit the mirror, then the ground at 50 MPH. Still works perfect.

My Nikon 1200 broke after being dropped from waist level twice.

Mine has worked great for many years of hunting. I keep mine in the soft case it came with.

my first leica suffered the same fate, unfortunately, I didn't spot it fall, and she was never recovered, it was like loosing a dear freind.
