Gunsmithing How to Accurize an AR15

[LongArm]

I am looking at processes to accurize the AR15 platform in the same manner gunsmiths accurize bolt actions. I am looking for insight into machining and truing the actions rather than the usual "buy a quality barrel and trigger" statements.
Any input will help!

A good barrel properly mounted in a trued upper receiver, good ammo, and a good trigger.
Free floated.
Properly matched bolt and barrel.
What else?
They're modular.

rcw3 and hellbender have posted some very good information.

The information by rcw3 (Robert Whitley) is more "concept to why" and the info by hellbender is "what to do and how to do it".

Together they make some very interesting and informative reading.

Me thinks lapping tool=snake oil. A quality barrel and float it.

yes.....or if you can find a receiver that is about press fit tight. I have a few that are Tight, not going to get rid of those, they make the best shooters.

Nice guy too
