Gunsmithing How to adjust a Remington 700p Trigger?

Any one know how to adjust a 700P trigger. It is the 40 x type trigger not the X mark trigger?
Any help would be appreciated.

Buy a Jewel, Jard, Basix, even a Timney. Throw that one away.

Otherwise. The screw on the back adjusts the sear. The top front is the over travel and the bottom front is the poundage. What I do is adjust the poundage and over travel the way I want them. Then I adjust the sear.

There has to be a video on you tube to give you a better idea of the procedure.

Lucky Jack hit the nail on the head. those three screws in that order (lbs, travel, sear) will be the key. get a guage so you can tell how many pounds it takes to brake, to low can be dangerous. hate to let one fly while taking a deep breath getting ready for the perfect shot..

I'll disagree that you should just immediately replace the trigger. The 40x trigger is completely serviceable and can be adjusted for a safe 2 lb or so pull (though I have mine set for about 2.25 lbs). Since you knew how to identify that it was a 40x trigger I'll assume you can follow some simple directions including bump testing the rifle on the floor after you are done.
