Gunsmithing How to check if both lugs have full contact?

Is there any certain way a guy can check to see, or make sure that both lugs on your action are making full contact? thanks Lee

Mark the back of bolt lugs with a Sharpie and close the bolt. You will see a wipe where the contact is.

I have also used yellow gear marking compound that is used for ring gear and pinion set up. It makes a VERY nice looking pattern that is very easy to see

+1 or "valve bluing" works well, just a bit messy

Any plain marker will do if you wipe all the dirt and grease out of the action first. I usually put a spent shell case in the chamber just to make sure the bolt has something to push against.

Your rifle must be fairly new if the rear of the bolt lugs are still black .Use a Red Sharpie on the black bolt lugs .
