Hi, i've read that there are calculators to determine twist rates....with that said, .are there are guidelines as to the optimal number of grooves or the specific type of rifling for Benchrest or PRS shooting?

The reason i ask is i'm strongly considering changing out the barrel on my rifle to a new caliber...likely the 6.5x47L

I've seen 3, 4, 5, 6 grooves as well as polygonal as options offered by some custom barrel makers.

thanks

I don't think it makes much of a difference IF the barrel is from a quality manufacturer. With that said, I choose 5R every single time simply due to the theory behind it. It hasn't proven me wrong.
