Range Report How to Chrony New Ammo? (newbie)

So I have zeroed and box tested my Rem700P stock rifle and Bushnell Elite 4200 6x24 FFP mil/mil scope with Federal 175SMK at 100yd. I am taking a course soon using SouthwestAmmo's 175SMK. I have a new EC Pro Chronology digital with USB.

I would appreciate advice on testing my ammo/rifle - I have access to a 100yd range only at this time. Thanks!

I'm not sure what you are asking ? Have you read the chrono instructions and don't understand ?

Customarily, you'll set your chrony up 10 ft. past the barrel. For the one I've used, I found it worked best when bullets were passing 2-4" above the sensors. It's a good idea to have your magnification turned all the way down so you can be sure that you're positioning the chrony correctly and can see it. You don't want to shoot it! Keep in mind that your bore is ~ 1.5 inches below the scope. If you position the chrony too high, it will get shot.

Make sure you have a decent bipod and maybe even weight it down. I watched the guy next to me at the range the other day knock his over twice with muzzle blast...from a .30-06. If you shoot prone, put a tarp down and weight the corners so you aren't blowing debris all over the sensors. You'll want the average of 10 or more shots.

Also try to set up where there's a couple lanes between you and your neighbor shooters - I was getting error readings caused by two dimwits who set up right next to me. They spent about 100 rounds getting a FAL or something like that "zeroed" at 50 yards. <rolleyes>. I'm not sure if it was their muzzle blast or bullets zipping past while I was trying to get a reading that caused it, but I had no problems before the arrived or after they left.

Make sure you are shooting level/horizontal/parallel to the top of the chrono. Otherwise, set your chrony 10 ft from the muzzle and pull the trigger.
