Gunsmithing How to "de-shine" a polished barrel?

I just picked up a really nice rifle. It has a Lothar Walther barrel that is polished stainless. I like stainless barrels, just not the highly polished ones. Any suggestions on how to take some of the shine off without taking the barrel off of the action?

Bead-blast, steel wool, sandpaper, or spray paint.

Scotch brite works well.The more worn it is the softer the finish will look.

swd is right...the long pads can be used like shoe shine rags to give a finish around the barrel instead of rubbing it lengthwise.
