Hey guys,

Pretty new here, but have a quick question, I'm thinking about getting a Khales 3-12.5 for my Surgeon rifle that has a 20 moa rail. Is it best to go with the lowest heigh rings i.e. .92 or under an inch, or should I go a bit higher?

Thank you!

What size tube and objective?

A 34mm tube with 50mm objective will be fine with .92" height rings. If 56mm then 1" would be a little better to give room for scope caps although depending on barrel contour you can get away with .92" height at times.

If 30mm tube then .885" rings will work with the 50mm but they don't make them that low in 34mm.

Not a Surgeon action but about the same height. 34mm .92" height rings and a 50mm objective.

Lol not sure I can patent duct tape, mouse pad and skateboard tape. Actually that predates the SOTECH skid plate. He Phil we need to talk!

LOL

The second rifle will have a nice SOTECH on it when they arrive.

Re: How to determine what height is the best for scope

Thanks guys, so forgive my ignorance but for a bolt rifle, you'd want the optic as low as possible, unless you had an adjustable cheek piece? Does that mean that my 30mm scope mount for JP, would be more suited for an AR platform since its 1.5 inches?

Thanks!

Yes a 1.5" height mount is better suited on a flat top semi auto.

You don't need the scope super low. It should be at a comfortable height. Those heights above work pretty good in being not too high or low and with a 34mm tube the decision is pretty much made for you as the .92 and 1" heights are most common although you can get higher with both 30mm and 34mm but I wouldn't go higher without an adjustable cheek piece.
