I totaly disagree with this administrations policy on gun control. On this topic Presdent Obama has lost all credability, mainly by his choice to head the Presidents Gun Control Push.
To send some one out who's idea of self defense is to stand on your back deck and fire off a shotgun to scare away would be bandits. In the first place this would be totally illegal in most places. Assuming you don't hit something you don't want to hit, in the best case you will be charge with unlawful discharge.
And then the same Vice President offers on live TV the advise to "fire a couple shotguns loads through the door". At best you only violated two of the four major rules of gun safety. That being don't point the firearm at anything you dont want to shoot, and be sure of your background.
That is poor advise at best, you don't know who's on the other side of the door, it could be your child who left his keys home.
To say, as the vice president did, that a shotgun is easier to shoot then an AR, knows nothing about either gun, the recoil alone proves that.
Further, I doubt the president knows much more the the VP regarding guns. If he did he would realize the same guns he is trying to ban is the guns required by rule, to be used in the "President's Match" at the National Matches each year.
Congress has passed laws since 1903 for the then DCM, now CMP to conduct the National Matches. The President's Match is part of the National Matches and is required to be fired by the standard M16 or the civilian semi auto version the AR15, and use the standard 20 or 30 round clips.
None of the laws provided will do anything to deter crime, history has proven that. This leads me to believe the proposed gun control measure are not about guns but about control.
I fail to see how you can call it "common sense" gun laws when you've shown there is no common sense involve.
