Gunsmithing How to prep an HS Precision stock for Duracoating?

I've started duracoating and I'd like to coat my HS precision stock. It is black with gray webbing and though it has some texture, what else should I do in order to prep the surface for the duracoat?

umm, can anyone help me? It seems odd that no one had any advice for me, usually at least one person responds and tries to help...

anyone have any suggestions as to the surface prep required for an HS precision stock that's soon to be Duracoated?

If the stock has a good base coat finish, meaning no cracks or flaking, all I do is scuff with a 3M pad and degrease with some alcohol.

If the stock is beat up then I might lightly sand with some fine paper and degrease with alcohol.

We Duracoat H-S stocks all the time. If it's a new stock just spray and wipe down with denatured alcohol. If it's used we clean them with Simple Green, full strength, dry them then use the denatured alcohol. If the stock has damage that needs repair, that has to be done first.

I just finished the first coat on my HS stock. I'm doing a GAP camo with coyote brown, OD green, and black. I used the brown for my base coat and after 8 hours of drying, the finish is looking great so far.

I scuffed it up with a green scotch brite and though that didn't seem to do much, I degreased it all with duracoat's tru strip then sprayed it down with my mini brush. I'll post pics in a new thread. I'm gonna do a step by step instructional thread cus I have too much free time haha.

Can't wait to see the pics.
Be sure to check all your tape edges before spraying.
That will assure clean crisp edges on your patterns.
