Hi, I'm trying to figure out how the EREK knob works so I don't break anything while zeroing my sn3. Please correct me if I'm wrong with this:

1. Center the erector following the instructions on the video in US Optics' website. After doing this I will end up with about 13 mils of travel in either direction... right?

2. Holding the knob so it doesn't move, I unscrew the zero screw about 10 mils. I do this to keep the erector away from the bottom... right?

3. I turn the knob clockwise until it stops. After doing this, I end up with the erector close to the center and the knob in the bottom... is this correct?

4. I turn the knob counter-clockwise about 1 mil (10 clicks). This will keep the knob not too close to the bottom, leaving 1 mil of adjustment for closer range shots and allowing to use the windage knob to correct small misalignment that may be built on the base-rings-rifle combination. Am I on the right track?

5. Holding the knob so it doesn't move, I turn clockwise the zero screw about 8 mils. Then I fire a test shot and see where it hits. If it hits too low I turn the zero screw counter-clockwise... if hits too high I turn the zero screw clockwise. I continue doing this until POA is as close as possible to the POI.

6. Now I use the reticle to count how many mils I have to dial to get the POA match the POI. I dial that many mils and I take note of how many mils I dialed.

7. Once I'm zeroed I hold the zero screw so it doesn't move and I turn the knob back as many clicks as I counted on the previous step.

8. Finally I loosen the 2 small screws on top of the knob and I set it to 0.

Is this procedure correct? Please correct me if I'm wrong... thanks alot!!

What he said!!!!!

USO's come pretty damned close when you get them, and most problems with scopes come from dicking with them when you are not on a range.

Re: how to zero with erek

Ok... I will try mounting it and shooting before touching anything else.
But... is that description right? I still have the doubt because I saw the video "erek how to" on youtube and I read the instructions that came with my scope but since this scope is different I want to be 100% sure of what I'm doing.
Thanks!!

Re: how to zero with erek

My USO out of the box took not a single adjustment of the EREK for 175g with BO rings on BO 20moa, still sits on zero. WND is .4 is all.

PM Doc, I will not speak for him and his instructions by PM to me but his method is much simpler than what you are trying to do. He can give you tips on different loads with EREK adjustment too.

What you get?

Re: how to zero with erek

IIRC what I did was dial the EREK until I was on target. Then insert the center allen key, hold it and dial the knob until it stops then back five clicks. Then I reset the turret to read zero by loosening the two small allen screws. After confirming zero I replaced the top washer with the solid one.

I have only done it once and this was going from memory.

I highly suggest leaving some clicks under your zero. I zero with gold metal match and it seems that everything else I shoot impacts at least .5 mils high at 100 yards.
