Suppressors How would I go about cleaning my suppressor?

Re: How would I go about cleaning my suppressor?

It's a centerfire can so you shouldn't ever really NEED to clean it. Cleaning is generally recommended and can be accomplished by various methods. Soaking it in brake or carb cleaner will do the trick. I have seen Zak Smith recommend an ultrasonic cleaner, but some companies advise it will void the warranty. When in doubt, contact the manufacturer.

Definetly don't need to clean centerfire rifle cans, unless you use them for 22lr doing double duty.
Rimfire, absolutely, pistol cal cans some yes some no..

When in doubt, call the maker

Well, our experiences differ.

Depending on suppressor design, round count, weapon type, calibre and ammunition used, it is good to clean centrefire suppressors also.

This can be easily accomplished by dunking them in various cleaning solutions and an ultrasound machine will also be a good aid if available.

Ultrasound? Are you checking to see if it's pregnant?

Ultrasonic cleaner is what I think you mean and I have been advised by many not to resort to that but very rarely. As it can weaken welds. And thats not from just suppressor manufacturers thats from guys who are machinist and metallurgist.

its the chemicals used that pits the metal, not the US machine, just to clarify some 22lr cans use aluminum baffles, anything center fired would be a bad idea IMHO
