Re: How?
No one other than an attorney can give you legal advice. I am not an attorney, I am not giving you legal advice. What follows are my reflections on the subject on individual registration vs the creation of an NFA Trust.
First, the Arizona Gun List article is not wholly accurate, but we will set that aside for now. It is a start, but a poor one. As an example, the article suggests that the absence of running the fingerprint card can lower the process time "to a number of weeks." The time is exactly the same at best and, in many instances, the lack of fingerprint cards creates a long delay by months as the BATF does what it should do, find out who is actually registering.
The issue for many is obtaining a LE signature. If that is your case, the decision is already made. If you do not have a wife or hiers, or see no reason to pass your purchases on to future generations, your decision is already made for you. But, and this is a BIG but, even if you can get a LE signature, a Trust has many other benefits. Not the least of which has to do with who may, within a valid trust handle/use the registered item(s).
This is usually when somebody says "just send me a trust", that is also a BIG mistake. I have read more of these than most and a majority of them are garbage. Before somebody says "We'll Billy got his approved with it" know that BATF is circling back right now on 100's of Quickbook Trusts having approved them knowing they were flawed.
Do yourself the biggest favor in the world. Contact one of the many great NFA attorneys out there and pay small bucks and have a broad and deep NFA discussion with them. You will know the difference....and so will the BATF.
