Hi,

I'm looking for a new Stock for my Howa. By looking through the picture threads i found the AICS.
I know that roedale sales them in version 1,5.
Does anybody know if the 2,0 folding version is available for Howa.

Edit: Sorry wrong forum. How can i move this?

LOL, that's right.
Our Mountains have a different color.

Re: Howa AICS

Hi

In austria there is a saying "the world is a village" and that is correct. Especially the austrians are spread all over the world.

Austria is a realy beautiful country. We have really wonderful mountains and lakes. Generally the people are very friendly and humourous.

From a shooters point of view austria is not really perfect. Shootingranges are limited to max. 300m by law. So more than for example a 308 doesn't make sense here.

Greetings to "the other side of the globe".

Austria, Eh </div></div>

LOL
The country where her accent is from is far away from austria.

Re: Howa AICS

Pete Lincoln (Roedale) posted in another recent thread saying the Howa AICS folding stock will debut this year, when to debut will depend on how many people ask for it, so if you really want one you must bug Pete.

Re: Howa AICS

If you can't find one or just depending when they come out, try a B&C stock if available in your country. It's not a folder but easy to fit the action into, helps with recoil a bit, and they are nice stocks for the price. I have one for my Howa 1500 .308win

Re: Howa AICS

Hi

@SoCalPete: Thanks for the Info. I sent Pete a mail and he said the folding stock will probably be available by the end of the year.
@Inkedshooter:Nice rifle. A folding stock has a big advantage for transportation. That's why I look for one.

Re: Howa AICS

Hi folks.

I need a second opinion.

We heard, that the AICS folding will come by the end of the year by Roedale Precision. Now I don't know, what to do. Should I wait for it or buy a Wilddog Thumbhole. This one would take about 4 months for shipping either.

Re: Howa AICS

If you have to wait that long for the Wilddog, see if you can get on Pete's waiting list (if he has one) right now so you can get one of the first batch. Depending on when Pete's stock is coming out, you may only have to wait a bit longer for that than going with the Wilddog. If you buy the Wilddog and decide later on that you still want the Roedale folder, it might be hard to sell the Wilddog since Howa is not that popular yet (though they well should be).

Have you tried an AICS yet? I ask because it is a love/hate relationship for most people. You either like it or you don't, there aren't many people who are indifferent or middle of the road in terms of liking the stock. I just happen to be one of the indifferent guys so I can do with, or without the stock.

Good luck with your decision! Regardless your Howa will be a shooter so enjoy it! Maybe do the B&C route for now so you are not out too much money.

Re: Howa AICS

Hi SoCalPete

Good thought about the selling of the Wilddog.

I have not tried the AICS now, but I found a store that sells it for Remys. I can try if it fits my hands there.
I was able to test the Wilddog when I visited Pete Lincoln. It fits great.
This is the biggest problem in Austria. I have to order anything I want.
If you want a rifle with 100 engravings for 10000€ that will beautify your wall but never see nature, youre in the perfect country. But on the other side no one has equipment for lets say "non hunters" in stock.

Meanwhile I have a Hogue Full Bed Block stock that I really like. It is elegant and fits my hands. My problem is, that it optically does not fit my new Premier Scope.

Do you mean when you get a comfortable and solid cheek weld, the scope sits too high? I have a friend's Howa in the Hogue right now and that is the problem I have. I wonder if a Karsten cheek rest would work for you?

Re: Howa AICS

another Australian here.....

I have a Wild Dog Tactical & Varmint Stock and they feel great and are very confortable to shoot. The Tactical is a fair bit heaver than the varmint. Today the postie dropped off a aics stock and it feels pretty good, i will try and shoot it on the weekend.

Which one would i choose.......it depends on the scope. What sort of scope will you be running? The reason i ask is if you have a high mount and need to raise the cheek piece you will have to lower it everytime you clean the barrel. I run a 40mm objective with low mounts so it doenst matter either way for me BUT if you need to raise the cheek piece it will get annoying having to reset it each time you clean the barrel.

Re: Howa AICS

Hi

@all: Sorry for my bad english. My problem is not the use of the stock/scope combination, it is how it looks. The Hogue stock looks too small for such a big scope.
I would like to upload a photo to explain it better, but I don't know how.

@seddo: That is a nice!!!! looking rifle.

Re: Howa AICS

Seddo,

If you have a raised cheek piece on your AICS, get some silicone tubing from a hardware supply place... one that cant be compressed all that much, and the correct diameter to slip over the "pins" that go into the stock from the cheekpiece.

Cut little pieces of tubbing until you have the correct height... slip them onto your pins in your cheekpiece.

Next time you remove the cheekpiece for cleaning, simply drop it back in and the silicone tubing should return to you to your specified height
