Howa mini prefits

Looking for anyone that does howa mini prefits. Found a couple that'll do some with the barrel nuts which is awesome, but the reamer selection wasn't great. I have a Krieger barrel that id like to send someone for a 20 vartarg and a 30 major off of 2 howa mini actions.

So far I've got

Ragged hole barrels. Never used them but have bought blanks from them before.

Crown ridge barrel works.

X caliber

Any experience with any of these? Thinking about going crown ridge, but they don't have the reamer and it'll be an extra $70 to have it rented.

Ragged hole barrels does have the reamer but haven't talked to them yet.

I also believe preferred barrels will do a howa mini prefit. I have one their 6cm 20in Tikka hybrid lite prefits on the womans hunting rifle and it shoots well.

I have had 4 crown ridge barrels (6cm, .223, 2x 6BR) for various howa actions. They use Shilen Match blanks and they have all shot great

Awesome to hear! I think I might save the 20 cal barrel I have and send him a 22 cal Krieger and have him do a 222rem for me and skip the headache and cost of a 20 vartarg for the time being. He's charging $199 to chamber a customer blank, that sounds like a good deal to me!

I do them as a shouldered install, they shoot very well. I made some regular Howa 1500 barrel nuts back in 2018, 20 I think. We still have all 20. This is why I never bothered making barrel nuts for the mini actions.

As far as making a shouldered prefit for it, the dimensions on the action were good but not good enough.

Once I see your action the first time it comes back with a dimensions card so I don't need to see it again. Turn time with customer supplied barrels is 6-8 weeks. The distinct issue that I think you have is wanting 2 rather arcane calibers, especially in the prefit industry. If you own the reamers I'll fit the barrels and mail the reamers back. I've never had a request for a 30 Major and the only 20 VarTargs I've ever cut went to the same guy who owned his own reamer. Unfortunately he passed several years ago and I haven't cut one since.
