Rifle Scopes Howa Scope base problem

Hello All,
I just purchased a Howa 1500 in 243, I was told that Remington bases worked on these rifles, I have a short action base for a 700, but it is too short so the rear holes don't line up. does anyone know exactly which base this rifle takes. before i order another wrong base for it.

Stealff,

Howa 1500's SA can use any Rem 700 Two piece base, but not the one piece Rem 700 SA base, because as you found the the Howa 1500 SA is longer then the Rem 700 SA.

One that will fit is:

Ken Farrell Bases Howa 1500 S & L

I believe EGW also makes bases for it, as well as others, but I have not checked.

Yes so I discovered the hard way, but I just got off the phone with EGW they make one but Legacy Sports has the exclusive rights to distribute the bases for the Howa, I finally found one at Midway under Weatherby bases.

The Long Action one piece bases fit the same as a Rem 700 LA, but not the SA.

I order my bases for Howa rifles from Farrell. I call and order
a 20 MOA "low profile base" which he will cut for you. You wind
up with a base that is not so tall. He has taken care of me
time and time again.

Above poster was correct about the short action bases. Remington
bases only work if they are two piece for the S/A. Been there, done that also.

Yup...have a Ken Farrel 20 MOA base for mine too

The Long action mount bolts up yes. BUT the location of the holes relative to the ejection port are off so it fits but is not clean for a Picatinny rail.
