Howas, AICS mags, and chassis compatibility questions

I've been looking at chassis options for my Howa 6.5 CM. I've mostly narrowed it down to the bravo or oryx. It's my understanding that they both take aics mags. My issue is that I've seen reports of the metal mags not working on a Howa without some grinding. Specifically, I've seen that info when reading about the oryx and no mention of issues with the bravo. I'd reeeeaally like to stay with the longest COAL possible, so metal mags are the best option. Currently running about 2.875"

Has anyone run into any problems using metal AICS pattern mags with a Howa in either the bravo or oryx? Currently leaning towards the bravo.

I was in the same boat as you. I ended up finding a used gen 1 XLR element on the forum here. For my 308, 2.89 max oal with the metal mags, no modifications etc. It am very happy with it.

Thanks for the response. I got the same info from the bravo thread, so it looks like it'll work just fine. I was going back and forth between some upgraded to the rifle and building a 10mm p80. I ordered the pistol parts last night, so that'll be done soon and the Howa will be done in time for the spring.
