my screen name is a smash up of my university (JMU) and my really expensive hobby (racing)...
I've been following the 6.5 Grendel round since well before SAAMI... originally i had an 18 inch (6.5lbs loaded) but gave up when i couldn't get the mags and cycling to work out...
fast forward "a couple of" years (and more reliability and lots of ammo choices) and I built a side charge 16 inch 6.5 Grendel rig. I took a class with bang steel in southern VA and got pretty hooked on "long range" shooting. with bang steel i've been out to 1100-ish... working to qualify at PeaceMaker National Training Center to go play some more. I currently use the Grendel as my deer rifle, plinking toy, coyote killer, etc.
The "math" and wind call magic really soothes my soul. and when the race car is working i enjoy spending afternoons on the range dialing in.
I'm looking to "build" a Rem 700 based bolt gun in 6.5 Creed (i'm not a reloader at all)... at least the Governor won't be able to take that away from me.
